Oak Longcase c. 1790 |
Maker : Thomas Morpeth, Hexham
This slim 30 hour longcase has been owned by the same Hexham family for at least the last 100 years.
The trunk has chamfered corners with inlaid panels. The shaped long door has an inlaid oval decoration in the centre and the plain base is raised on bracket feet.
The hood has a flat top with dental cornice below and a pair of plain brass tipped pillars. It has a bell strike on the hour

Maker : Thomas or Blackett Wallace, Brampton, Cumbria
This imposing thirty hour oak longcase has swan neck pediments to the hood.
The trunk has mahogany crossbanding, fluted quarter columns and a long, shaped door.
The impressive silvered dial with brass spandrels has good quality engraving and false engraved winding holes giving an illusion of an eight day movement.
A painted rolling moon can be seen in the arch above the dial.
The bell strike is on the hour

This 30 hour country clock is raised on bracket feet.
The hood has turned columns with brass tipped capitals and mahogany cross banding.
The painted arch depicts a hunter with his two English Pointers.
The cross banding is echoed around the shaped door and on the based panel.
It has a bell strike on the hour.

A well proportioned eight day oak longcase clock. It has a long shaped door with crossbanding which is echoed on the base panel.
The arched hood has reeded columns with brass capitals.
The painted dial shows a country house scene and has subsidiary dials for seconds and date.
The weight driven movement has a bell strike on the hour.

A good quality eight day mahogany longcase clock.
The trunk has reeded quarter columns with turned capitals.
It has a long shaped door decorated with ebony stringing which is echoed on the base panel.
The arched hood has swan neck pediments and plain turned pillars with brass tips.
The painted dial, decorated with floral spandrels, has two working subsidiary dials for seconds and date.
This is a pleasing well proportioned clock which would grace any living area, modest or grand.

A superb small solid mahogany eight day longcase clock.
The trunk has a centre inlay and is flanked by plain chamfered corners.
The base which is raised on a shaped plinth has a plain panel.
The arched hood with swan neck pediment and encloses a painted dial showing Britannia and garlands of flowers.
The well executed movement is unusual in having a deadbeat escapement with a seconds sweep hand and bell strike on the hour.

The mahogany case with flame veneer to all front panels has cross banding on the base panel and to the long door which is also flanked by reeded quarter columns.
The hood has gothic sound panels to either side and is topped with brass finials.
This early brass dial longcase has a fine three train movement held between shaped brass plates.
It chimes on two bells every quarter hour giving one chime on the first quarter, two on the half hour and three on the third quarter with a single bell strike on the hour.

The slim and elegant case of this Vienna Wall Clock is decorated with ebonised mouldings and fine finials.
It has a white porcelain dial with a subsidiary dial.
The eight day movement strikes the hour on a gong with a single strike on the half hour.
